Oxidative stress associated with visceral fat

December 19th, 2006 | by David Spelts |

High levels of visceral fat are associated with greater oxidative stress and the metabolic syndrome (syndome x). Even non-obese subjects exibited an association between visceral fat and oxidative stress.

It is unclear if antioxidants might partially reverse syndrome x. It is clear that those with visceral fat accumulation should eat more green vegetables, as these foods are associated with less visceral fat and contain hundreds of antioxidants.
