Single bout of exercise reverses high fat diet induced insulin resistance

October 30th, 2006 | by admin |

A single bout of exercise can reverse the insulin resistance brought on by a high fat meal. Insulin signaling improved after exercise, probably as the result of glycogen depletion.

The researchers did not specify the type of fat used in the abstract, but omega-3 polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats improved insulin sensitivity while omega-6 polyunsaturated and saturated fats degrade it.
