l-Arginine improves insulin sensitivity and antioxidant status.

October 22nd, 2006 | by David Spelts |

The group that received moderately high dosages (8.3 grams per day) of the amino acid l-arginine had improved insulin sensitivity, antioxidant status and achieved greater weight loss results than the control group.

Of particular interest is the fact that the arginine group had a greater reduction in waist circumference, consistant with the increase in insulin sensitivity and reduction in visceral fat. Arginine is a known stimulator of growth hormone release as well, and that may have also been part of the reason for the results achieved.
