Food choices and body fat distribution

As in most developed countries, BMI of Swedish citizens has increased in recent years. Yet, diabetes and heart disease have not increased with BMI…most likely due to less harmful body fat distribution patterns.

The researchers found the following factors were associated with the preferred gynoid body fat distribution: polyunsaturated fat intake, pasta and low fat milk. Saturated and trans fats were associated with the android fat pattern and increased visceral fat.
