A white kidney bean extract called phaseolus vulgaris
inhibits the digestive enzyme alpha amylase, which converts starches to sugars. Subjects receiving 445 mg of phaseolus vulgaris had significantly greater improvements in BMI, fat mass and skin fold thickness over those that did not receive the supplement.
