Low calorie diet desaturates muscle lipids

February 16th, 2007 | by admin |

A low calorie diet produced significant weight loss and improved the fatty acid profile of skeletal muscle lipids. The intramuscular lipids became more unsaturated, this should result in improved insulin sensitivity.

The participants followed a low calorie diet, but there is no reason to believe that a more moderate diet would”nt produce the same results…though it would require a longer time period.

This had already been proved.Maintaining healthy levels of cholesterol reduces the incidence of coronary artery disease.

    Arnold,

The study was’nt about cardiovascular disease or cholesterol. It is about intramuscular fats, which are used as fuel during aerobic exercise.
