Capsinoids Lower Abdominal Obesity
December 26th, 2008 | by David Spelts |Capsinoids, the active compounds in chili peppers, lower abdominal obesity and improve fat oxidation rates. Overall body weight also improved some, but abdominal fat showed the greatest reduction…indicating improved insulin signalling.
Capsaicin is the most widely studied capsinoid. Despite the burn, capsinoids are well tolerated. The study participants took 6 mg of capsinoids per day.

Hello – I have a question:
Do these capsinoids lower abdominal fat in particular or is it just that they lower fat, period?
I am interested because of potential use with an ab exercise regime.
Thanks
Michael

Both hot and sweet peppers contain substances that have been shown to increase the body’s heat production and oxygen consumption for about 20 minutes after eating. This is great news; it means your body is burning extra calories, which helps weight loss.
