Chitosan, the structural element in the shells of crustaceans, appears to have weight loss benefits. Chitosan is indigestible, so its effects are similar to fibers.

Subjects taking about 3 grams of chitosan a day achieved superior weight loss and fat loss results compared to the control and placebo groups.
