Bright light enhances weight loss

August 9th, 2007 | by David Spelts |

Bright light may improve the weight loss affect of exercise. Only the group receiving the bright light lost body fat, even though both groups lost weight. The bright light group also had an improvement in mood.

The benefits of bright light are probably achieved through increased serotonin (which lowers appetite and improves mood) and vitamin D synthesis (which improves insulin sensitivity).

Exercising outside is a great way to get the benefits of both exercise and bright light.
