Testosterone levels critical for strength training adaptation

Suppressing testosterone nullifies nearly all of the adaptations to strength training. The group whose testosterone was suppressed did not gain any strength, had only half of the lean mass gain and actually gained fat on the weight training regime.

Heavy weight training usually increases testosterone, but these subjects received medication to suppress it. Extremely low fat diets and low body fat levels also lower testosterone levels.
