Leptin injections kill fat cells

December 14th, 2006 | by David Spelts |

Rats given leptin injections had increased fat cell apoptosis (cell death) in both peripheral fat deposits and in bone marrow.

The leptin pathway is more complicated in humans than in rats, but future drugs may be able to partially duplicate this in humans.
