Fat distribution and heart disease

December 10th, 2006 | by David Spelts |

Body fat distribution patterns are at least as important as BMI as a risk factor for heart disease. Waist to Hip Ratio (WHR) is a simple way to determine the degree of abdominal obesity.

Men of normal weight are still at risk of heart disease if their WHR is high. Women”s risk of heart disease increases proportional to their WHR.
